What They Think Of Me

The psychological conditioning between most people can change a lot, with beliefs of religion and political but the one conditioning that never fails to make an impact on me, is that of working. The thing I notice the most when I tell people that I am an online entrepreneur is the funny looks and people saying that I should get a 'real job', because yeah, I'm supposedly doing nothing while I'm working from home. It's this conditioning that keeps many people from being able to conquer online marketing and working from home. Because they think that if they are not working a day job, they aren't working. This isn't true at all, internet marketing, is often more profitable than working a day job, and trading time for money.

This conditioning is the 'normal' way of thinking, you NEED a day job to be successful, you NEED to be working a lot to make money, and you NEED to be working hard. This is very different to the entrepreneurial mindset, anything in the world is an opportunity waiting to be tapped into.

As entrepreneurs, you should be prepared for ups and downs in the profits we make, but even though you have these ups and downs, we have complete freedom over what we do, how long we spend working each week and when that is exactly. We do not need to show up for that day job, at precisely 8am, or risk annoying someone.

I realised just how different many people are to me, I was talking to somebody recently, and I was told, I should have a real job, and spend less time on that 'damn screen'. I realised that depending on how you were conditioned to think about work will greatly change your outlook on certain ventures, many generations were bought up to join the work force as soon as they can so they can have a real job, and earn some respect, so they can go somewhere in life. They needed credibility in order to be accepted by their peers, and family, you needed to have a job, to be successful.

I was not disheartened by this comment, but, I considered making a list, of people to show my success to when I start to generate an income greater than theirs. Many entrepreneurs will meet this kind of person, the kind of person who wants you to stay in your steady job, not waste your time and/or money. The kind of person who will tell you crazy for trying and make sure you don't succeed. I find it easier to just shrug off these negative comments, and only focus on the better things in the conversation, or use them as motivation to become even more successful.
