- 1). Place a bath towel on a table. Place the CD that has the big scratch on the towel with the label facing down. Blow off the surface of the CD with a burst of compressed air.
- 2). Squeeze a thin line of toothpaste on the scratch, starting to the left of the scratch and continuing until you reach the right end of the scratch; if the scratch is vertical, start at the top of the scratch and run the line of toothpaste until you come to the bottom of the scratch.
- 3). Place the cotton swab against the left side or at the top of the scratch. Press down firmly and run the swab across or down the scratch until you come to the other side or bottom. Dispose of the cotton swab in the trash.
- 4). Repeat this procedure, only using the clean edge of a lint free cloth instead of a cotton swab. Dispose of the cloth in the trash when done.
- 5). Hold the CD by the edges. Run the side of the CD that has the toothpaste on it under tap water for a minute. Place the CD in a drying rack to dry off.
