How to Hide Oil Stains on a Concrete Floor

    • 1). Cover all oil stains with an even layer of cat litter to absorb as much oil from the concrete as possible. Leave the cat litter on the stains for 24 hours.

    • 2). Sweep the entire concrete floor to remove the cat litter, dirt particles and loose debris.

    • 3). Mop the entire floor with warm water to rinse away any remaining grit and prepare a grime-free surface onto which the paint can bond. Let the concrete surface dry out for three days.

    • 4). Spread two coats of concrete and masonry bonding primer onto the concrete floor using a lambswool roller brush. Start at the back of the room and work toward the doorway. Let each coat of bonding primer air-dry separately for 24 hours.

    • 5). Apply a coat of epoxy concrete floor paint along the perimeter of the floor using a paintbrush. Allow epoxy to dry for 12 hours.

    • 6). Roll two coats of the epoxy concrete floor paint onto the concrete floor starting at the wall opposite of the doorway. Let the first coat of epoxy dry for 12 hours before applying the second coat. Do not walk on the second coat of epoxy for seven days to prevent scratching the surface.

    • 7). Seal the dried epoxy with two coats of non-yellowing urethane. Using the roller brush, apply the urethane over the entire concrete floor. Allow each coat of urethane to dry individually as instructed by the manufacturer.
