- 1). Study Judaic law. The more you learn how you should act as a righteous person, the better chance you have of going directly to Gan Eden, rather than spending part of your afterlife in Gehinnom. Gehinnom is a place of atonement and purification where you become righteous enough to get into Gan Eden.
- 2). Practice Judaic law as closely as you can. Don't eat unclean foods and always honor Jewish holy days. Even if you can't observe holy days fully because of your job or extenuating circumstances, take a few moments and acknowledge each day and what it means.
- 3). Do good where you can. Jewish dogma strictly emphasizes how you should act and what kind of person you should be in life. Doing good includes both big and small things, from donating large sums of money to charities to holding a door for someone or helping someone smaller than you carry heavy items.
- 4). Remain positive and enjoy the good that you do. Good deeds aren't really good deeds if you're doing them for selfish reasons. Enjoy the fact that you helped someone, not the fact that you acted like a good person. Righteousness is not prideful.
- 5). Set an example for others. If you talk about good deeds and being helpful and kind, make sure your actions reflect your words. No one will listen to you if you don't practice what you preach. Once again, don't be prideful. Keep the focus on others, not on yourself.
