- 1). Clean the cement surface and let it dry completely.
- 2). Lay a layer of floor adhesive over the end of the floor where you want to start the courses, using your adhesive trowel to spread it over the whole length of the floor and coming out about two feet from the wall. (Don't start at the wall where the entrance to the room is.)
- 3). Lay the starting course of floorboards along the wall, putting the grooved edges of the boards toward the walls and setting shims in place to hold the boards slightly out from the wall to allow for movement of the wood over time. Connect the boards end to end. Cut the last board on a miter saw as needed.
- 4). Install the second course by locking the tongue-and-groove fittings together at the sides between the first course and the second course. Stagger the ends of the boards between the courses as you lay them. Cut the last piece as needed.
- 5). Proceed across the floor course by course, spreading more adhesive as needed. Keep going until you run out of room to work by the opposite wall. Let the boards set for 12 hours.
- 6). Install the final section of boards once you can stand on the previous section. Cut the boards of the final course along their lengths on a table saw to fit, leaving a quarter-inch gap there. (The gaps will be hidden when you install your floor trim.)
