- 1). Place one of the 24-inch-by-24-inch-by-1-inch wood pieces on a flat surface, so the 24-inch-by-24-inch side is facing upward. This is the bottom of the wooden storage cube.
- 2). Label the 1-inch sides of the piece of wood on the flat surface – "A", "B", "C" and "D". This will make it easier to attach the sides to the bottom.
- 3). Place one of the 24-inch-by-24-inch-by-1-inch wood pieces against side “A”, so the 24-inch side lines up with the 24-inch edge of the bottom. If you are looking down on it from the top, you will see the 1-inch-by-24 inch side. Nail it into place. Nail at least four nails across the bottom of the wood. You may store heavy items in the box, so you want to make sure it is nailed together securely.
- 4). Repeat step 3 on side “C”.
- 5). Place one of the 26-inch-by-24-inch-by-1-inch wood pieces on side “B”. The 26-inch sides will reach across from the edge of the board on side “A” to the edge of the board on side “C”. Nail into place on the bottom and sides. Make sure you place at least four nails in the bottom, and four on each side of the 26-inch-by-24-inch-by-1-inch wood pieces.
- 6). Repeat step 5 on side “D”.
- 7). Sand the wooden storage cube on the inside and outside. Make sure you remove all of the rough edges. You do not want to reach into the box to get something out of it, and end up with splinters.
- 8). Paint the wooden storage cube to make it fit your decor. This step will extend the life of your wooden storage cube. The paint will seal it, and keep it from being damaged by moisture.
