You've heard all the hype right, get paid ten million gazillion dollars filling in surveys online! But is it true? Can you really make a living filling in surveys, or is it just another scam? I've heard all the sceptics about surveys and for a while they put me off too.
But then I read a story about a working mom who earned enough from filling in surveys to pay for the family holiday to Disneyland.
So I thought hey what have I got to lose.
I signed up for a few of the top websites listed in Google and waited to see what would happen.
I have to say I was still a little sceptical at this point.
Sure enough I was soon receiving surveys in my email.
But shock horror they weren't the high paying surveys that some of these sites promised.
My first survey offered only $5 in payment.
Nevertheless I completed it; just to see if I would be paid to be honest.
So I submitted the survey and $5 was entered into my account.
And this brings me to my first point.
A lot of these survey companies have a minimum payout, usually around $50.
So you have to complete a few surveys to get paid.
This isn't a problem in its self but its something you should be aware of.
It's not a scam, once you reach the payment threshold you will be paid, but you need to complete a few surveys for that to happen.
The survey companies do this for two reasons.
Firstly it encourages you to take more surveys, which is what they want.
And secondly it helps to cut down on people filling in surveys with false information.
If you fill in one survey saying you're a 23 year old woman and the next survey you're a 53 year old man, they might smell a rat and your payment will be cancelled.
Which brings me to my next point; try to be honest with your answers, the surveys you're sent will be closely related to your demographic.
So it's not in your interests to claim you're a working mom if in fact you're a 74 year old retiree.
The survey companies do monitor your answers and if they suspect you're not who you say you are, they wont pay you.
All that being said it is possible to make money filling in surveys, but it won't make you rich.
The number of surveys you receive and the amount you're offered for them is directly related to your demographic.
So if you're a working mom you're going to get more surveys than a 60 year old retired army general, sorry it's just a fact.
To maximize your chances of earning a decent amount of cash, you need to sign up with as many survey companies as possible.
That way you can pick and choose the highest paying surveys and ignore the rest.
If you do that and stick at it, you'll soon have enough money in your account to treat the family to nice holiday.
