Choosing Spring & Garden Wedding Favors

As important as it is for wedding decorations, and bridesmaids to be color coordinated, so should your wedding favors.
Thematically, spring wedding favors and garden wedding favors may certainly be linked, but the color tones and hues of these must match the setting.
A spring wedding may not be held outside, dependent on which region of the country the wedding will take place.
"There are differences between colors used at these events," says a wedding planner friend of mine we'll call Mary.
"It's important that the wedding favors match not only the floral arrangements, wedding decorations, and attire of the wedding party, but all aspects of the wedding.
Wedding favors are often overlooked, and sometimes distracting.
" If color is desired for a wedding favor, choosing one will be most important factor.
First let's discuss spring wedding favors.
"Think Easter," says Mary.
"Pastel colors are the best choices for spring.
They're soft and pleasing to the eye without the stigma of distracting attention from the bride.
" Colors such as lavender, pinks, or a light turquoise are some of the better choices.
Avoid colors such as orange or yellow, and darker color schemes.
Blues and grays are obvious horrid choices.
As for garden wedding favors, Mary says it's extremely important, and more difficult to match colors with an outside wedding.
Though garden weddings are elegant and more uplifting because they are held outside and not in a stuffy hall, there are many factors that will effect how colors are perceived.
For instance, if the sun shifts behind the clouds, the colors may affect people differently than if they were sharpened by sunlight.
"It's like looking at a painting in a room with low light.
Turn the lights on and people evaluate the painting with a different perspective," says Mary.
The same is true with shifting sunlight or whether or not a section of the wedding party will be seated in the shade.
For garden wedding favors, the colors chosen should follow the same restrictions as those for spring wedding favors, but there is a difference in color use.
Pastel colors may not work the best for outside.
Their true hues are more easily susceptible to the environment.
Sunlight, shade, and surrounding vegetation may clash with the colors.
More solid colors, like reds, greens, and light blues are better choices for outside weddings.
It is also important to have a variety in the colors chosen.
Picking a single color will make the appearance bland.
Two colors is generally the safest bet, but three, if they can be balanced well, will have more substantially pleasing effect.
Another factor to consider when choosing color is the amount of color.
Do not overwhelm the guests with too much color and white must never be chosen to stand alone.
Color will accent the white, but white alone becomes blinding, dull, and boring.
Too much color is an obvious distraction.
Regardless of spring wedding favors or garden wedding favors, the favors should be simple and they should blend casually and unobtrusively with table settings.
The favors should be able to be carried easily, and conveniently.
They should not have to be moved from the table in order for guests to enjoy themselves.
Also, the gifts should be universal.
Choose favors that everyone at the wedding party will enjoy in some form or another.
Keep in mind that the favors will be tokens of sentimentality.
Champagne glasses, shot glasses, bottle openers, candles, and picture frames are some of the most popular wedding favors.
