- 1). Clean the candle wax immediately. Candle wax is like other stains -- the faster you can deal with it, the easier and better it can be removed. First, try to scrape off as much wax as possible with a dull butter knife.
- 2). Heat the candle wax with a hair dryer. Do this gradually while you are dabbing up the melting wax with a paper towel. Never rub or scrape the candle wax; rubbing will spread it farther and press it deeper into the carpet.
- 3). Place three layers of paper towels on the wax, and run your clothes iron over it on low to medium-low heat. The paper towels will pick up the wax. Change the paper towels as they become sticky and dirty.
- 4). Purchase a good carpet cleaner and follow instructions on the package to remove any remaining stain.
