- 1). Clean the floor thoroughly with household cleanser and a mop, following the manufacturer's instructions. Let it dry a full 48 hours.
- 2). Measure and mark the middle of each edge of the floor, using a tape measure. Snap a chalk line from one mark to the one across from it, in both directions, so the floor is divided into four quadrants. Adjust the second line with a square as you snap it so it's exactly perpendicular to the first line.
- 3). Peel off the paper backing of your first adhesive tile. Set the tile to the floor at one of the four corners of the intersection, so it's bordered by the two lines on two adjacent sides. Press the tile firmly to the floor.
- 4). Set the next tile in place abutting the first one. The edges of the tiles must be pressed firmly to one another so there's no space.
- 5). Repeat and continue, pressing additional tiles in against the first ones. Build your way from the center of the floor outward toward the walls along the lines. Lay all the full tiles that will fit.
- 6). Measure and cut the partial tiles for the edges of the room, using your square and utility knife. To make the cuts, score the surface of the tile with the knife, then bend the tile until it snaps along the line.
