Although Maglite have only just decided to use LED technology in their flashlights, it has in fact been around for some time.
In fact LED lighting was first used back in the 1960's and has proved very beneficial since then.
However, rather than spending money replacing your old Maglite you can instead save money by purchasing one of the Maglite LED conversion kits instead.
So just what are the advantages to changing your conventional Maglite to one that uses LED bulbs instead? Below we take a look at the benefits to converting your conventional Maglite to an LED one.
Benefit 1 - Unlike conventional bulbs the LED variety have a much longer life span.
If you were to put LED bulbs in your Maglite and use it constantly it would run for approximately 100,000 hours before it needed replacing.
Whereas when it comes to incandescent bulbs these normally have only a lifespan of 5,000 hours.
Benefit 2 - By installing LED bulbs in to your light bulb you are also extending the lifespan of the batteries used to power the flashlight.
This is because the LED bulb converts around 80% of the batteries energy to produce the light and so only 20% of the batteries energy is lost as heat.
Whereas if the Maglite flashlight is fitted with an incandescent bulb then 80% of its energy is lost as heat so only 20% of the energy in the batteries will actually provide power to the bulb.
Benefit 3 - Of course the main advantage to converting your Maglite to one that uses LED bulbs rather than incandescent ones is the savings you make.
As the life of the bulbs and batteries is considerably longer this means you will have to spend far less on replacing them.
