Silverado 3500 HD Specs

    • The Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD pickup is a powerhouse of a truck. This heavy duty 1-ton pickup was redesigned to also carry occupants comfortably in its richly finished cab. The Silverado 3500HD is available in two-wheel- or four-wheel drive, in three cab lengths, and in three trim levels. This generation of Chevy trucks, known as the GMT900, was introduced in model year 2007, when it won "North American Truck of the Year" and Motor Trend's "Truck of the Year" awards. For 2011, its chassis was re-engineered with a high-strength, fully boxed steel frame and redesigned suspension components.

    Cargo and Towing Capacities

    • The 3500 HD's length is 259 inches (over 20 feet) and weight tops 7,000 lb. The benefit of this enormous size is its mighty hauling power. Its pickup bed will hold more than 2 tons of cargo with single rear-wheel configuration, and over 3 tons of payload when equipped with dual rear wheels. The 3500HD comes with an integrated trailer-brake controller, is rated to tow over 13,000 lb. and can be equipped to tow 21,700 lb. All 4x4 Silverados can be ordered with the Snow Plow Prep Package, which takes advantage of the front suspension upgrades to allow for easy accommodation of a snow plow.

    3500HD Work Truck

    • The Work Truck (WT) is available in all three cab lengths, and seats two to six passengers, depending on configuration. It is equipped with vinyl seats and rubberized floors. Like all Silverado 3500HD models, it comes equipped with a Generation IV, 322-horsepower, 6-liter V-8 overhead valve engine that produces 380 foot-pounds of torque. An optional 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V-8 offers 397 hp and 765 foot-pounds of torque. All General Motors pickups are only offered with automatic transmissions. The MSRP of the 2011 Chevy Silverado 3500HD Work Truck starts at slightly over $30,000.

    3500HD LT and LTZ

    • The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD LT, priced in the mid-$30,000 range, is also available in regular length, extended length or crew cab bodies. These trucks come with cloth upholstery and carpeting, cruise control, locking seat cushion storage, an XM/CD/MP3-equipped stereo, power locks and windows, and aluminum wheels. The LTZ is the top-line offering in this series. It comes equipped with the same dashboard as the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban SUVs -- a car-like, rounded, premium design with wood-grain trim. Leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, 10-way heated front seats and a Bose audio system are all included. This version of the Silverado comes with a bed liner and 18-inch wheels. It is priced at over $40,000.
