- Temporary employment agencies have traditionally offered menial, repetitive jobs as blue collar workers at various manufacturing facilities. However, white collar temporary agencies have become popular, including such agencies as Accountemps and Robert Half Inc., both of which provide accounting and professional temporary employment. Blue collar positions remain popular job categories with temporary employment agencies such as Adecco, Kelly Services and Manpower. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, approximately 2,250,000 people were employed by these types of temporary staffing agencies in April 2011.
- Temporary employment agencies often offer a deeper pool of positions than you can find via traditional newspaper and online job classified advertisements. The job placement professionals at temporary staffing agencies are often "plugged in" to companies who are hiring and are able to offer employment at these places before an advertisement for the position can be placed in such newspapers and websites.
- Job seeking is a process that can be draining, both physically and mentally. The process entails hours of scouring online advertisements, print advertisements and cold calling in an attempt to find employment. Temporary employment agencies are beneficial, as they assist the worker in this process. Temporary agencies sell their services to companies and firms, essentially consolidating the job seeking process for the worker.
- Many people seeking work through an employment agency are unemployed. As the nine percent unemployment rate in April 2011 indicates, there are many people in need of work. Temporary employment agencies give unemployed workers the opportunity to expand their occupational horizons by delving into a realm of work in which they have little or no experience. A wide range of occupational experiences can translate into a better chance of obtaining full-time employment in one of a number of fields in which the worker is experienced.
