If you're planning a summer time vacation to Disney World, there are a few things you'll need to prepare yourself for in terms of the heat! Orlando, Florida is not just hotter than hot during the summer months, it is hot, hot, HOT! Keeping this in mind, don't let the sunny weather deter you from attempting a summer trek to the most magical place on earth, but rather, plan by the following 5 tips and tricks to stay cool even as the temperature climbs higher and higher.
1.) Bring a Hat
Most people are smart enough to remember light-colored shorts and Tees, but it takes more than that to ward off the sun's rays! A hat can help in regulating the temperature of the human body, and you also won't end up having sunburnt face. A hat for every family member is a must!
2.) Bring sunscreen
What you remember to bring might spell the difference between having a comfortable day and just downright overheating. What most people do is to apply their sunscreen in the hotel room and leave the bottle, instead of bringing it with them the whole day at the resort. Be smart enough and buy yourself a small bottle of sunscreen which you can put inside your pocket or bag and bring it with you the whole day. By doing this, you can re apply it anytime, anywhere.
3.) Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon - Be ready to get wet!
Walt Disney World Resort doesn't have the world's 2 most-visited water parks for nothing. It's just like being in the beach where you can chill and relax in a shady area, plus there are water slides, rides and a lot more attractions you must try. Be sure to get to the parks early to grab a prime spot, and even consider bringing a picnic to add to that authentic day at the beach feel - though the restaurants in the water parks are nothing short of amazing, of course.
4.) Planning makes everything run smoothly
It's always good to plan your trip to Walt Disney World since this makes you save a lot of time, instead of ending up jumping from one place to another. Not only that, you can also schedule your heat breaks by going indoors. In planning your trip correctly, you will be able to alternate between outdoor attractions and air-conditioned indoor attractions, giving you heat breaks. The heat usually reaches its peak in the afternoon, so during this time, you can always watch a show, eat, or catch an indoor attraction. Building breaks into your schedule is a good way to avoid wasting time while at Walt Disney World Resort wandering around trying to stay cool.
5.) Drink lots of fluids
Bottled water at the park is expensive, and Florida tap water tastes pretty bad, so find a way to bring a pack of bottled water of your own. This may be as simple as bringing it from home, if you're driving, to taking a cab to a grocery store if you flew in - don't worry, you'll still save money. Believe it or not, water bottles inside the water park cost more than $2 each.
If you follow these tips and stay hydrated at all times, it will make a big difference on your visit to Disney World since instead of over-heating, you will just be feeling comfortably warm.
