Garlic, basil and bay leaf are commonly found in Greek recipes. Mint, oregano and parsley are also often used in traditional dishes. - Feta and Kasseri cheese are two of the oldest known types of cheeses in the world, and both originated in Greece. Cheese is used in Greek cuisine as a stuffing, an appetizer, and a main course in dishes such as stuffed cheese torts.
- Fruits and Vegetable
Greek cuisine follows the seasonal fruits and vegetables of the region. Tomatoes, eggplant, green peppers, wild greens, and a variety of beans are popular seasonal foods.
