- Dance encourages children to move creatively. Turn up the music and dance with your child. Teach her to move her hips, arms and legs to the rhythm of the music. Let her move, jump and clap as she wants. This activity creates a bond for you and your child, while having fun and exercising. Dancing can also create a love for music and dance once your child is older.
- Create games for your child to play during the day. Tell your child to imitate animals, such as a penguin walking, a jumping frog or a flying bird. Play "Simon says" and "follow the leader." Instruct your child to go on a treasure hunt. Give him a basket and tell him to go look for rocks or bugs in the back yard or certain items in your home. Create games out of chores by timing your child or competing to see who can finish the quickest.
- The playground is a fun place for any child to visit. Find local parks in your neighborhood or a playground at a school near you. Take your child to the playground as often as you can. Let her climb, slide, run and jump all she wants. Going to the playground is a good way to meet new friends for your 3-year-old and yourself.
- Children love to explore. Take your child to nature centers, hiking trails and lakes. Let your child explore and discover new places. If the weather does not allow you to be outside, walking around a shopping center, museum or other exposition is a good form of exercise. You child can also exercise when walking around the neighborhood. Try to go on walks every day. This is also a good time to talk to your child and spend time together.
