- 1). Climb into the truck bed and use the measuring tape to find the dimensions of the truck bed. For accuracy, measure around the perimeter of the bed, as close to the edge as you can get. Don't forget to measure around the tire cover. Do not include the tailgate in your measurements.
- 2). Mark the truck bed measurements onto the bottom of the carpet using a straight edge and chalk. If your truck bed isn't covered, choose an outdoor carpet material that won't absorb water--these carpets won't become mildewy as easily. Use permanent marker if the chalk doesn't draw easily on the bottom of the carpet.
- 3). Cut the carpet out with a pair of scissors.
- 4). Bring the carpet into the truck bed and fit it into place. Press down the edges firmly, if it bubbles at all. Use a double-sided tape around the bottom edges of the carpet to secure it in place, if you're worried that it might fly out while driving.
