How do I Install a DS-75 Garage Door?

    • 1). Inspect the door packaging for damage before opening. If damage is found, file a claim with the freight company immediately. If no damage is found, remove the door parts from their packaging.

    • 2). Verify that all door dimensions correspond to those on the packaging. Report any discrepancies to the Wayne Dalton factory.

    • 3). Confirm that the door opening is square and plumb with a level floor, and that there is sufficient top and side clearance.

    • 4). Position the left guide 3/8 inch from the left jamb edge and clamp in place loosely.

    • 5). Use a level to adjust the guide and secure the clamp tightly.

    • 6). Measure the door curtain width and add 7/8 inch to locate the correct position for the right guide.

    • 7). Loosely clamp the right guide in place.

    • 8). Plumb the guide using a level and tighten the clamp.

    • 9). Shim guides as needed, confirming the inside-of -guide-to-inside-of-guide measurement at the top, middle and bottom.

    • 10

Secure guides to the jambs using the supplied fasteners.

    • 11

Install brackets to the outside of the guides using provided track bolts.

    • 12

Confirm the brackets are straight and square before fastening to the wall.

    • 13

Install bottom bar stops to the guides using the supplied carriage bolts and flange nuts. Do not tighten the fasteners completely.

    • 14

Lift the curtain assembly to the brackets and insert the left axle into the hole in the left bracket, resting the axle collar against the bracket.

    • 15

Support the curtain assembly while inserting the right axle into the right bracket.

    • 16

Secure the curtain assembly with cotter pins through each axle. Bend the cotter pin ends to hold in place.

    • 17

Rotate the curtain assembly so the bottom bar is at the top of the curtain roll. Stretch the spring end to the bracket carefully to locate the bracket hole nearest the spring end loop.

    • 18

Position the provided hex bolt and washer in the spring loop, stretching the spring to insert the bolt into the bracket hole.

    • 19

Rotate the spring to center it on the bracket before tightening the spring attachment bolt.

    • 20

Start with the bottom bar at the top of the curtain roll again and apply two complete turns of tension to the spring.

    • 21

Cut the tape holding the curtain in a roll and slowly unroll the curtain into the guides. Continue unrolling until the bottom bar is below the bottom bar stops.

    • 22

Hold the curtain assembly with clamps and tighten the bottom bar-stop fasteners on each side.

    • 23

      Remove the clamps.

    • 24

Lubricate the guides, moving the curtain up and down the guides to test its operation.
