I am not normally an indecisive person. You see, I always have dessert, and on the odd occasion when I am not sure which sweet treat to have on a Friday night, I will have two....
However as my trusty, old (in fact, so old I do not know what kind of phone it is) wanders into obsolescence I have to face the fact that I need a new phone. Like an ageing secretary, it now ignores the majority of my calls, completely ignores text messages and naps at random times. It also has a battery life based entirely on who is calling. If it is family, friends or somebody else important then it will run for about 12 seconds. If it is my bank manager, or somebody who refuses to believe they've got the wrong number then I can count on a solid 30 minutes.
With all this in mind, one of my friends bought the iPhone 3GS into our work place and let me have a play, and golly it is brilliant. It is seems faster than a Pentium Quad, whilst managing to look sleeker than Myleen's hair in those Pantene adverts.... Or at least to me it does.
My principal concern, however, is that contract. I have no problem paying £35 per month - the tariff I would want - but the idea of doing it for 18 months seems a lot. In this day and age, the here and now culture where everything is disposable, 18 months is like a marriage. Well, almost.
There is of course the initial outlay to consider too, which is almost like the cost of the wedding. Should an iPhone be my 'life partner' or just there until something better comes along? Will something faster and with more memory seduce me into its charms?
