- The AFSA scholarship is open to high school seniors who are United States citizens or legal residents. Applicants read the Fire Sprinkler Essay to learn about automatic fire sprinklers, and then complete a test using the essay as a reference. Students are entered into a drawing for each of ten $2,000 scholarships for each correct answer as of 2011. Applications are accepted in the spring and winners may use the award funds for tuition and books.
- Wal-Mart is offering a High School Scholarship Program to high school seniors who have an Hispanic heritage. Applicants must be citizens of the United States or legal permanent residents who live in a designated metropolitan area, such as Chicago, Miami and San Francisco. To be eligible to apply, seniors must be planning to attend a four-year college full-time and enroll in a program leading to a degree. Students must send in a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Those who are selected for the HSF/Wal-Mart award are granted $2,500 as of 2011.
- Posse Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who demonstrate financial need. Students in disadvantaged areas who need assistance getting into college and remaining in college are targeted by this program. Eligible seniors are recommended based on leadership ability, teamwork and motivation. Those who are chosen receive a full four-year scholarship to a participating college and university, including Brandeis University, Tulane University, the University of Pennsylvania and Franklin and Marshall College.
- The Internet Scholarship Program of the U.S. Bank awards scholarships of $1,000 each to 40 scholarship winners. Applicants must be high school seniors or currently enrolled in a college or university that participates with the U.S. Bank No Fee Loan Program. To be eligible, students must be citizens of the United States or a permanent resident. Winners are selected at random and are notified in April. Students may apply online.
