- 1). Ensure that your computer meets the requirements to play the Call of Duty 4 demo. The requirements for the demo are the same as the requirements for the regular version: a 1.8 GHz dual core processor, or a single 2.4 GHz core processor; 8 GB of free hard drive space; an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card or better, or a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 graphics card or better; and 512 MB of RAM. Playing the Call of Duty 4 demo with a computer below these minimum requirements is possible, however the game will frequently freeze and cause the system to stop responding. Consider using, borrowing or buying a new computer, if your computer does not meet these requirements.
- 2). Insert the demo disk and begin the installation, or download a demo from the web (GameSpot and GamersHell are both reliable websites that provide a free Call of Duty 4 demo download; see Resources for download links). Save the file to your computer and begin the installation. Accept the terms of agreement at the end, in order to complete the installation.
- 3). Double click the Call of Duty 4 demo icon on your desktop. Upon loading, the demo may require you to download an update. Select "yes" and restart the demo. Next, select "join game" once again and Activision should ask you basic information to create a multiplayer account--such as your name, age and address. After you fill out this information, select "join game," and double click the server which you would like to play on.
