DIY Plexiglass Kitchen Cabinet Doors

    • 1). Unscrew the cabinet doors from the cabinets with a screwdriver. Set the hinges and screws aside so you can reinstall the doors once the Plexiglass is installed.

    • 2). Locate the door panel. Turn the door over so you are looking at the back side of the panel. On most doors, a small lip holds the door panel in place.

    • 3). Cut away the top lip of the door with a router. Wear safety glasses as you carefully cut the top lip that holds the panel in place. Once completely cut, the panel should slip out of the door and the door should then look like a picture frame.

    • 4). Cut the Plexiglass. Use the wooden door panel as a guide for the size. Many home improvement retailers will cut the Plexiglass to size for you. You can also purchase Plexiglass cutting kits.

    • 5). Apply a bead of clear-drying silicone caulk to the remaining lip on the cabinet door. Lower the cut Plexiglass into place on top of the caulk.

    • 6). Pre-drill the holes for the mirror clips with an electric drill. After the holes are drilled, slowly screw the mirror clips into place. Do not tighten the clips too much or you may break the Plexiglass.

    • 7). Re-install the doors onto the cabinet bases with a screwdriver.
