- 1). Unplug the power cord from the Kenmore 65701 dryer. Pull the dryer away from the wall. Remove the lint screen from the top of the dryer by pulling it out. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the retaining screws securing the lint screen bracket to the dryer. Pull the lint screen frame from the dryer and set the frame and screws aside.
- 2). Insert a flat-tipped screwdriver between the top of the dryer and the front panel. Pry the dryer up at each front corner to release the locking clips. Raise the top of the dryer up and lean it back on its hinges. Remove the screws securing the front panel to the frame of the dryer using a screwdriver; the screws are on the inside of the dryer. Set the screws aside. Raise the front panel up slightly and pull it away from the dryer frame.
- 3). Remove the broken belt from the dryer. If it is not lying at the bottom of the dryer, it may still be on the drum. Slip the new belt around the dryer drum; keep the grooved side down. Make a loop of one end of the belt. Push the idler pulley toward the motor and loop the doubled-up belt around it. Slip the belt around the motor pulley. Turn the drum counterclockwise a few times to check the belt tracking.
- 4). Slip the front panel on the dryer into place and replace the retaining screws. Lower the top of the dryer down onto the frame. Push down firmly on the corners to lock the retaining clips for the top into place. Insert the lint screen bracket into the opening on the top of the dryer and screw them into place. Set the lint screen inside the frame. Plug the dryer power cord into the electrical outlet. Push the dryer into place against the wall. Turn the dryer on to test the new belt installation.
