- 1). Purchase 2 gallons of fiberglass gel coat restoration paint that matches the base color of your camper. Select among reputable brands like Sherwin-Williams, PPG, DuPont or BASF.
- 2). Work on your camper on a clear, bright and sunny day. Sand over the entire camper shell with 150-grit sandpaper to remove all rough edges. Rinse off the sand ash with a hose.
- 3). Scrub the entire surface with auto soap -- mixed with water into a sudsy liquid in a 5-gallon bucket. Dry off the camper with shammies or clean, dry, soft cloths.
- 4). Pour the fiberglass gel coat restoration paint into a paint tray. Use a roller brush to apply the gel coat to the camper. Use a paintbrush to access smaller, hard-to-reach spaces around the wheel wells and bumpers.
- 5). Let the coat dry, about 6 to 8 hours. Apply a second coat in the same manner, and allow it to dry as well. Apply a third coat to seal the fiberglass camper, protecting it from fading and restoring the surface to its original shine.
