For the majority of installations, underfloor heating can act as the primary heat source – subject to heat loss factors – allowing the homeowner to dispense with unsightly, conventional radiators.
The carbon film is ultra-thin - at less than 0.5mm in thickness - and will not add any appreciable height to the overall profile of the floor; making this type of underfloor heating suitable for both new and refurbish projects where wood or laminate flooring is being laid.
Carbon film heating is not a new concept; having been widely used for many years, installed as both ceiling heating and under floor heating. To date, the heating film has only been offered as a bespoke product, with individual installations sized to film widths and lengths, cut and electrically connected at the factory, with each heating element numbered and boxed; the total heating installation is then returned to the customer as a complete kit. This whole process has meant that up to now, customer orders have taken up to 2 weeks to turn around; a very outdated method of supplying today’s market, where consumer expectations are for a more immediate, next day delivery.
What is new about carbon film heating elements is the idea that carbon-heating film can be modularised. The new carbon film heating elements have been designed for the DIY market as well as trade: installations can be achieved very quickly due to the new 1000mm widths. Elements are pre-cut - supplied in fixed lengths from 2 – 10 metres - with widths of 1000mm and 300mm; all heating elements are electrically, factory pre-connected with 3 metre cold tails. The new heating film 1000mm widths make installations easy to select and fast to lay; and with less electrical connections, simpler to wire-up. Installations are completely dry and are a simple unrolling process.
With the new modularised heating film elements it is now possible to supply the consumer with a wide choice of readily available stock, allowing purchases to be made online and delivered the next day.
