- 1). Before you begin, put your safety glasses on, and make sure you have all the materials your project requires.
- 2). Place the 1-inch-by-10-inch-by-6-foot board on a table, and measure 6 inches from the top of the length of your board. Draw a corresponding line on each of the 1-inch sides of the board with your ruler.
- 3). Using your drill with the extender and 5/16-inch drill bit attached, drill a hole through the 1-inch side in the center of where you marked. Your hole should go all the way through the board. This hole will later be used for the dowel rod.
- 4). Measure 12 inches from the bottom of the length of your board and draw a line across the width of the board.
- 5). Measure every half inch from the top of your board, drawing a line for each half inch from one end of the board to your 12-inch mark.
- 6). Take your saw and cut a line every half inch down the length of the board until you reach the 12-inch line you marked. Repeat this procedure across the entire width of the board. You should end up with 20 separate sections.
- 7). Your board should now look like a bunch of fingers of wood held together by a 12-inch bottom.
- 8). Take the dowel rod and slip it into the hole you drilled through the board earlier. The rod should fit through a hole in each of the little fingers, connecting them.
- 9). Once you have put the dowel through the holes, shift the fingers of the board until they are all distributed equally along the length of the rod.

Using the glue, hammer and 3/4 brads, anchor each finger into place so it will stay. - 11
Allow the glue time to dry and put your new trellis in your garden!
