- 1). With the front window sash down, hold your tape measure horizontally near the top of the window opening in the track that the sash would fill if it were raised. The area will be just behind the "stop-trim" that's positioned vertically and in front of the front sash.
- 2). Take a second horizontal measurement just above the window sash, in the same track. Write down both measurements.
- 3). Raise the front window sash, and take a horizontal measurement at the bottom of the opening, in the track where the sash was. Write it down.
- 4). Take the smallest of the three measurements and subtract 1/4 inch from it. Circle that number; that's the width reading with which to order your window.
- 5). Put the front window sash about in the middle position. Hold your tape measure vertically from the uppermost point behind the stop-trim (where the front sash would touch if you slid it all the way up), down to the flat part of the window jamb, just behind the sill.
- 6). Take three vertical measurements. Pick the smallest one. Subtract 1/4 inch from it. Circle that number. That's the length with which to order your window.
