The Photos application allows the user to enjoy all of their self-made videos and captured photos through the 5 megapixel autofocus camera with flash and face detection. The user can then instantly share with friends through the many social networking possibilities, or via email or multimedia messaging, all inclusive.

The Desire Silver has Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate for fast and efficient file sharing and connectivity between the handset and a compatible device within close proximity, which includes the A2DP wireless stereo headset profile as an alternative to the user utilising the audio jack connection for audio listening. Other profiles are supported and he device also has a standard microUSB 2.0 connection which also enables the device to be used as a wireless internet modem through an internet sharing capability featured.

Along with the Friend Stream HTC widget, other preinstalled widgets include Footprints which offers easy navigation services via the internal GPS antenna and digital compass, News which keeps the user constantly in the know with current affairs, Mail and Messages for email and messaging respectively and People which enables the user to see all the latest social networking updates along with phone number, image and name when seamlessly surfing through contacts on their handset.

The handset also comes with other special features offered through the HTC Sense user interface which is provided on top of the standard Android 2.1 operating system. The features include lowering the ringer volume on the handset being lifted and muting it entirely when the handset is placed screen-side downwards. The device also automatically backs up certain useful data to the microSD card (up to 32 gigabytes possible); including SMS and MMS messages, webpage bookmarks, Wi-Fi passwords and more.
