However, think about this...
There is not much difference in today's doctors and the ones that were around a century or two ago.
At that time, it was not unusual for interns and physicians doing an autopsy to go down the hall and deliver a baby without ever washing their hands.
The infections that resulted afterward killed many women.
Finally a physician who was head of the clinic realized what was occurring, and told them to be sure and wash their hands thoroughly.
The infections ceased.
The entire medical profession was outraged when he published his findings.
Excellent doctors can't be the reason for something like this.
The physician was shamed and terminated from his employment.
So he took his experiment elsewhere and tried again.
Again, there was a visible drop in the rate of deaths.
Once again he publicized his findings, and once again the medical profession went after him.
Finally he lost all he had, went insane as a result of the tragedy and committed suicide.
The moral of the story: A doctor who is willing to work within in the system won't fight the system.
The possible negative repercussions are considerable...
