For most women Mother's Day is a wonderful day filled with pampering, quality family time, breakfast in bed and yes-burnt toast and the worst coffee you ever tasted does count! Most importantly, it is a day you will file away in the special memories folder in your mind and from time to time, you will look back on it fondly and smile.
Candles have become very popular over the past decade.
You can buy them or make them in all sizes and shapes including shapes such as hearts, Disney characters, slot machines, cakes, pretty much anything you can think and usually there is a mold you can buy to make it yourself or preorder it to have it made professionally.
Scented candles are also just as popular you can get everything from apple pie scented to sandalwood scent.
In this article, we are going to focus on candleholders that both adults and children can make or decorate for that special someone on Mother's Day or any special occasion.
You can use either crepe paper or tissue paper for your decorations.
The first candleholder idea we are going to look at is a decorated candle; you can use an empty vegetable or fruit can small size for votives and the regular size for larger candles.
The metal from the can will act as a fire retardant; as long as you keep the paper decoration at least two inches below the top of the can.
The first thing you want to do is cover the can in either tissue or crepe paper choosing a color mom likes.
Then you are going to make a flat flower such as a daisy you will not need to make the stems.
Once the daisies are made attach them to the can with clear drying glue and let it set for a few hours to be sure they are dry.
Next, you can use other items to decorate the candleholder such as small stamps of ladybugs or butterflies.
Then place the candle inside the candleholder.
The next candleholder idea we are going to look at is a paper and beaded decorated holder.
You will want to cut stripes about an inch wide you can use different color paper for this idea and attach them to a can, container or even a wine glass.
Once the paper is dry, very carefully attach beads to the paper you can use all one color or an assortment of colors.
If you use a wine glass, you can also attach beads to the bottom of the candle for a little extra sparkle.
There is no doubt that these two special candleholders for mom will be loved, cherished and proudly displayed for all to see.
