Craftsman Tractor Snowblower Troubleshooting

    • 1). Use a lower tractor gear if the discharge chute becomes clogged; the tractor's forward movement speed may be too fast. Try increasing the throttle, too. It's possible that the snow is too deep for the snow blower settings, so try raising the snow blower. Clogging can also occur if the snow melts in the chute. Allowing the snow blower to reach the outdoor ambient temperature before using it will help.

    • 2). Lower the skid shoes to increase the scraper plate distance if the front wheels slide instead of steering. Pull down on the lift handle to add to the front wheel's weight.

    • 3). Reduce speed if the snow thrower rides up onto the snow. You may find the snow at the bottom is hard-packed and icy--try lowering the skid shoes so the front of the skid shoe is lower than the back.

    • 4). Disengage the snow blower's clutch and clear the auger if the engine stalls. There may be an object jammed in the Craftsman Tractor snow blower's auger. Hard or heavy snow can also stall the engine---increase the throttle and slow down the forward movement speed.
