How to Market Your Salon Business - Part 2

By the way, did you know that customers and clients aren't the same?

Heck even the words are spelled different which ought to be a good indicator ... ha, but I'm just messing around with you.

Listen, a customer comes in to check you out, and a client ... well they've made the decision to make you their hair stylist.

And how does this selection happen?

Is it your individuality or expertise or maybe the location of your salon?

For me this is an incredibly easy answer when I'm looking for a stylist. Not only do I want one that's an expert with what they do and I really enjoy 'atmosphere' and I want someone that I can carry on a conversation with and joke with ... but I'm looking for more.

Most of all I want to be waited on like I was the only client my stylist had. And I would be brash enough to bet a dollar to a donut that you would feel exactly the same way when you get services from other businesses.

Customer service is the pivotal ingredient that makes this so important. And what most don't know is that you have to always give more than your clients expect.

Now consider this; 85% to 90% of all salons will always do exactly the same thing to all the people that walk in their doors, so would it be hard to give a little bit more than they do?

Look here, it doesn't take much to reach someone now days with some extra service.

Let me give you something to think about, I did a survey so I could hear some answers to some thoughts that I had about salons and found out that none of the people that I surveyed ever got a thank you card from their hair stylist.

Ever!

Isn't that astounding to you or is it just me that thinks that a 50¢ post card would be a wonderful way to convey to me that my hair stylist appreciates me and wants me to come back.

So by you just mailing a thank you card to your customers will convey to them that you're different than all the generic shops.

And I hear you now saying ... I can't find the time to send cards to all the people that comes in here ...okay you don't have to.

But the ones that will take a few extra minutes at the end of the day and go through their customer list and send a card will benefit some great rewards.

Like taking a customer to client status.

So how do you market your salon business?

Start with some very economical thoughtful ways that makes your clients think of you.

You might not believe this, but most hair stylists under-serve their customers. If you'd like to know how to increase the loyalty of your clients especially in these challenging times get a report on how most hair stylists under-serve their customers. Just click on the link (hair stylists)
