Does Vitamin E Prevent the Progression of Atherosclerosis?

Does Vitamin E Prevent the Progression of Atherosclerosis?
According to Hodis and his colleagues, the answer to the question posed in the title is no. They studied the effect of vitamin E in men and women 40 years of age or older whose cholesterol level was ≥ 130 mg/dL. They used computer image-processed B-mode ultrasonograms to determine intima media thickness of the common carotid artery in order to assess progression of the atherosclerotic disease.

The investigators concluded that vitamin E did not prevent progression of the atherosclerotic disease.
