If you usually cook items that are in deep dishes, then a convection oven isn't needed because the deep dish will block the circulating air from cooking most of the food. However, if you cook items in shallow dishes or on cookie sheets, the convection oven is worth paying more for because it allows for a quicker and more even cooking experience.
