- 1). Put on all safety gear before chiseling cracks in cement block. Covering your eyes, hands and face prevents pieces and particles from being strewn into your face or inhaled.
- 2). Use the chisel and mallet to enlarge the crack in the block wall. Do not begin with hard bangs of the mallet or make deep cuts into the cement. The blocks are fragile so start small and make the hole or crack bigger as you go. Creating a larger area to fill will help the newly added cement dry quickly and properly.
- 3). Mix the cement, sand and small amounts of water added in intervals inside of the bucket using the dowel. The ratio of Portland cement, sand and water should be 3:2:1.
- 4). Put a small amount of epoxy filler inside of the hole or crack to support the cement to be added.
- 5). Use your hands or the trowel to fill the cracks and holes with cement. Your hands will help you force the cement into the cracks since the wall is upright and more difficult to fill than if it were a cement slab on the floor. Use the trowel to push cement inside and then smooth over the surface to make the wet cement flush with the wall.
