- 1). Access the "Start" menu and navigate to the "Control Panel." Select the "User Accounts and Family Safety" option and click the "User Accounts" icon.
- 2). Click "Change User Account Control settings." In Windows Vista, the option will instead read "Turn User Account Control On Or Off." Drag the slide bar to the "Never notify" option and click "OK."
- 3). Click on the "Start" menu, "All Programs" and "Recovery Manager." In some Compaq models, the folder will be named "PC Help & Tools" instead. Click "Recovery Disc Creation."
- 4). Place a rewritable DVD into the Compaq's disc drive. Close the autoplay prompt and navigate back to the recovery-disc creation window. Click "Next."
- 5). Click "Next" again to start burning the new Compaq system boot disc. Select "Finish" after the burning process has finished to eject the disc.
- 6). Return to the Compaq's "User Accounts" window and drag the slide bar back to its original setting. Click "OK."
