Leadership and Organisational Success - Are You Willing to Go the Distance?

Much focus is given to people and organisations that achieve great success.
When looking at these successful organisations and the people that lead them, it is all too easy to say things like: oIt is all right for you to say X now that you are successful oYes but my situation is completely different oI never had the opportunity, qualifications, experience or expertise to do what you did.
Truth is few people or organisations that have achieved success did it overnight.
They had as many setbacks along the way as they had successes.
So what is it that makes those that are successful stand out? There is unlikely to be just one thing that contributed to their success but I believe that there is one thing that you need to have if you are going to achieve any kind of success and that is persistence.
It is all too easy to give up at the first sign of or actual setback.
It might be that you are: oNot being persistent enough in getting the qualification you need to take your career to the next level.
oNot willing to go through the struggle that happens when you step into a management or leadership role for the first time.
At this time it is easy to feel de-skilled and that you don't know anything anymore.
oUnwilling to make the tough but necessary decisions to turn around poor team, project or even organisational performance.
oNot willing to make the time and/or the investment to continually develop as a leader.
Bottom Line - No success as a leader happens overnight.
The question is are you persistent enough and are you willing to go the distance to achieve the results you desire?
