So let it be known that it will follow you everywhere
and it shall be passed on to your kin
For justice is inherent, a tooth for a tooth
an eye for an eye
There is no escaping the broad hand of an encompassing law
It shall find you in the bush and raise you in the river
No stone will be unturned, no flag will be unfurled
as it is nature's way, a means to order every hair and provide for every womb
In the winter there will be snow, in the summer heat, in springtime fruit
and in autumn rain
So let there be no deviation from the law, justice will reign in the hearts
of people who are pure
For every transgressor shall pay his due and every sinner shamed
To spare the rod is a heinous act, it will send ripples through the ocean
and spread disorder within the brain
For every man and woman must understand their part, in the grand scope of the universe each of us is a pebble to be counted but yet a rock upon the stage
So each of us must act as we bring deliverance to our brothers and sisters
because the light is upon us and there is no place that we shall hide
Step out of the dark from behind that young seedling and behind that old shady wood
as righteousness shall be rewarded and wickedness will be damned
In the morning you will have a new luster, a path on which you can walk
Take it because you need to, in rectitude you can repent for a time,
but for the moment forget about the punishment, the whippings, the cat-o-nine tails
for all of this flagellation will one day be burnt but remember the severed wrist,
the gouged eye and the detached foot as the screams will fill your nights
and permeate your dreams as this could be the curse of a chosen one
to lead his people to the firmament and to purify their souls
Because the alternative is so very hard to believe, it is shocking and it is foul
for the bane will take you to foreign lands, it will strangle and it will shout
You will feel a burning there, destruction for the devil, the undoing of humanity and despair, for the eminence of God may take on different airs,
in mercy you shall be redeemed
