Firstly, you must understand that Grouse Mountain is the only ski resort in the world located within 15 minutes of a major metropolitan city.
And that is a huge advantage, you do not need to plan your whole day around your skiing trip, you can wake up in the morning, go out for coffee, do a little shopping, the go skiing in the afternoon, and be back in Vancouver for dinner! Nothing can be better than that.
There are many things to do at Grouse Mountain, but the main activity up on the mountain are snow sports! There are great ski and snowboard runs, as well as some awesome back country ski runs.
Also, snowshoeing and cross country skiing is available.
For someone who is not into snow sports, they can go on a tour of Grouse Mountain on either a snow-limo (a long sled type tour wagon), or a horse drawn carriage tour.
Also up at Grouse Mountain are the famous zip line tours through the canyons! This day long tour will take you through the depths of the mountain and you will be able to see nature at its finest! The zip line tour is not for the weak hearted people, but it sure is a fun day activity! And just imagine zip-lining over a canyon looking down and seeing wildlife, maybe even some black bears! And the final activity to do on the mountain is the famed (even un-liked) Grouse Grind hike.
This hike is exactly what it sounds, it is a total grind.
This hike up the side of Grouse Mountain takes you on an elevation life of over 7000 feet.
And imagine hiking up a trail that most people have to take a tram to get up! It's fun, but definitely a work out.
If you are up for the challenge, allow yourself one and a half to two hours for the hike.
