- 1). Cut a square hole in the wall location where the new phone line is to be located. Avoid hitting studs.
- 2). Insert an MP-1 bracket into the wall and fold down the edges to make a tight fit. This will function as the frame for the new faceplate to screw down to.
- 3). Run a phone line through the walls and fish it down at the new outlet and the original outlet. Leave about 2 feet of service slack at each end.
- 4). Unscrew the faceplate from the original phone line and pull it away from the wall. Behind this will be a phone jack. Remove the jack if necessary to help with the following procedure.
- 5). Loosen the screws for the red and green wires, only enough to slide in the new additional phone wires. The red and green wires should stay where they were.
- 6). Strip the insulation off one end of the new phone wire and wrap around the screws of the jack on the red and green wires.
- 7). Tighten the screws down and replace the phone outlet back to the wall to complete this side.
- 8). Strip the insulation off each wire at the other end of the new phone line and install them under the screw points, similarly to the first jack. Screw down this faceplate into the newly added MP-1 bracket.
