How to Recycle Shredded Paper in Mississauga, Ontario

    • 1). Purchase a green organics recycling bin from a recycling center in Mississauga. As of 2011, green bins are available for $20. Locations for the centers can be found on the Region of Peel's website.

    • 2). Collect your shredded paper scraps from your shredder and wastepaper bin. Make sure plastic and other non-organic material is not mixed in with the paper.

    • 3). Place the shredded paper in your green recycling bin. You can line the bin with paper or other organic materials, or place the shredded paper inside the bin loosely. If you use a liner, be sure it's compostable; otherwise, your recycling will not be collected.

    • 4). Place the green recycling bin at your curb on the day of your usual weekly waste collection, which is based on your location. The list of collection dates is available on the Region of Peel's website. Be sure to properly latch the lid and place your bin outside before 7 a.m.

    • 5). To prevent road hazards, carry the green bin back to your home after the material has been collected.
