- 1). Condition and waterproof your leather coat before wearing it. You can use conditioning and waterproofing products such as Lexol, Snow-Proof and Fiebing's All Purpose Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. Apply one of these products all over the coat before wearing it, place your coat in a well-ventilated area and allow the product to soak into the leather for a few hours.
- 2). Use a light damp sponge to wipe down your leather coat at least once a week in order to remove accumulated surface dust and keep it clean. This will keep your leather coat from becoming cracked and wrinkled.
- 3). Use carnauba cream to restore and soften your leather coat. Rub the cream into any cracks and wrinkles on a daily basis until the coat has been smoothed out.
- 4). Store your leather coat in a cool, well-ventilated place on a proper coat hanger. This will keep the leather coat from becoming excessively dry and prone to cracks.
- 5). Always have your leather coat cleaned by a cleaning specialist that has experience working with leather and suede. They will know the proper method when it comes to removing stubborn stains.
