It seems that parents are always worrying about SIDS, especially those of preemies and infants that have an increased risk of contracting this ‘silent killer'. Parents of healthy babies may even experience anxiety over this. There is a special kind of baby heartbeat monitor that parents can buy which will put their minds at ease: "The Angelcare Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor".
The Three Core Functions
There are three modes of use with The Angelcare Movement Sensor. Parents will be able to use the sensor/sound monitor as the baby grows into toddlerhood and even beyond, if you desire. You are able to hear the sounds of your baby with the Sound and Movement function. With each movement that your baby makes, you will hear a ticking sound. After a period of twenty seconds, an alarm will sound. If this is a major distraction to you, you can always turn the Tic Off mode off. However, you will still be able to hear your baby's sounds and see the sound lights. During this time, your baby's movements are still being detected. If there is absolutely no movement detected for twenty seconds, an alarm will go off. Finally, if you decide that even the alarm going off every twenty seconds is too much to handle, you can use this baby heartbeat monitor in the Sound Only mode. Even though the movement sensor is disabled in this mode, the parents will still be able to hear their baby's sounds and get a visual of the sound lights. The Angelcare baby heartbeat monitor, in this mode, will function as a regular sound monitor. For parents who need more input, the additional sensory features of this baby heartbeat monitor can be lifesaving.
How Does the Angelcare System Work?
You must place a sensor pad under the center of your baby's crib mattress making sure that the crib is on a hard, flat surface. The cord of the sensor pad passes underneath the entire mattress, and finally exits the crib at the corner. The cord is then plugged into the jack located on the nursery unit transmitter. This unit may be plugged into the wall outlet or it may be operated with four AAA batteries. It is the same for the parents' unit receivers. Now switch on the parents' units of this baby heartbeat monitor and select either channel A or B. Make sure that the parents' units are set to the same channel as the unit in the nursery. Choose the desired mode for the nursery unit - Sound & Movement, Sound Only or Tic Off. If you wish, one parents' unit may be left in the master bedroom and you may carry the other unit with you as you attend to other duties in your house or yard.
Other features of the Angelcare baby heart monitor:
* Sound lights - Indicator lights that are found on the LED sound bar on the parents' unit will allow you to "see:" your baby's sounds at all times.
* Optional "Tic" Feature - If the parent sets the nursery unit to the mode Sound & Movement, it will tick continually with each movement that your little one makes. If there is no movement detected by the sensor pad that is located underneath the baby's mattress, all ticking will stop.
* Movement Indicator Light - Only the nursery unit has the movement indicator light. If the nursery unit is set either to Tic Off or Sound & Movement, when baby moves, the indicator light on the parents' unit will flash green.
* False Alarms - Sometimes, it is possible to get false alarms with this baby heartbeat monitor. After your baby is taken out of her crib, make sure you turn the nursery unit off. For other problems, see the troubleshooting guide located in the instruction manual.
