The frontal part of the foot gets affected due to bumps on the side of it and the framework of its bone structure is changed.
The big toe slightly leans in such a way that it rests on the second toe.
So the bones become non-aligned and the bumps called bunions are produced.
Basically though bunions are developed, the foot structure and the types is genetically inherited and the difference in certain types of foot structure that are inherited actually causes the bunion and not the tight shoe as is commonly believed and in fact crowding of toes do not really cause the bunions, though it can result in unbearable pain.
One of the symptoms of bunion include the terrible pain but what really stands out as a symptom is the red, calloused skin that is spread along the foot exactly at the base of the big toe.
In most cases the base of the big toe get inflamed and the terrible soreness causes the pain which is sometimes persistent and at times intermittent.
If all the people declined to take off their high pencil heels like Victoria Beckham who refuse to be seen without those high stilettos, then the incidences of bunions would be far more common than it actually is.
As is commonly believed that prevention is better than cure, so also in the case of bunions, you can prevent it by wearing shoes that fit your foot comfortably even if you are born with a faulty foot structure.
Basically pain killers are taken to rid the pain but the symptoms do tend to persist.
Using bunion pads and bunion splints are some of the gadgets that can be used to reduce the size of the bunion and its severity, besides of course cosmetic surgery.
