Things to Do Before Prom Night

The big night approaching and you can help but get oh-so-excited. We don't blame you. Many grownups look back on their prom nights with fond memories and might even find themselves smiling sheepishly at themselves and the things that they did on that special night...but there are many who do NOT. There are things that you should and should not do to ensure that prom night remains as a special memory instead of the kind horrific nightmare that you may not want to remember ever again.

There is no shame in going alone or in a group
Your friends might have been taken for prom night and you are now facing the dilemma of going alone, not going, pick a group to join or simply go to the prom with a complete stranger who is also partner-less.

While it is common for people to go to proms as a couple, this is no longer the norm in our modern society. Remember, your prom night is going to be as good as the company you pick. If you have a boyfriend and the both of you are facing some relationship problems, going together could make or break your prom. Going with friends who are not really your friends might present to be a problem too, so pick and choose your company wisely. It is better to head over alone than go with people with whom you have a quasi-relationship with.

Thanks to the movies, proms about late night kisses and impromptu romances
The whirlwind of prom night makes it all too easy for guys and girls to get caught up in the romance...even when there is none. Prom night is about getting to know each other better when we let our hair down, it is time to celebrate the togetherness of the students and also about putting on your dancing shoes. Don't ruin a special night like this by being unrealistic about romance. In fact, having high expectations about what you are going to reap at the end of prom night might just make it a very miserable night for you. Go, instead, with an open heart and willingness to take it for what it is.

Make new friends
Reality is this...you will most probably be hanging out with the same friends from the same school all night long, except that all of you are dressed up to the nines to impress each other. Apart from the clothes, music, food and drinks...it is pretty much a party. A fun party - that is what a prom essentially is. If you take away all the glamor and glitter, you get a get-together. Think of it that way and chances of you have a good time during your prom is higher.
