When it comes to disobedience with your dog it is important to understand if he truly knows what you expect from him with your commands.
Technically he cannot disobey you if he doesn't know what the heck you are asking him to do! What you want to avoid are situations where your dog deliberately ignores you and your commands even though he is fully aware of what you want him to do.
This is a sign of disrespect and should not be overlooked or taken lightly.
The alpha status concept is something that you should be aware of when it comes to your relationship with your dog.
You need to be the clear-cut authority figure if you want to be successful with your dog training.
There are a few simple ways that you can show this authority which will lead to your dog respecting you and your commands.

Whenever you let your dog outside always request that he sits and stays until you release him to go.
If you are going outside make sure that you always lead the way out the door and your dog follows behind.
If you let him go first this will imply that he is the decision maker and your alpha status will be compromised.

Always make your dog sit and wait for their food when it is time to eat.
Make him understand that you are in charge.
If he sits and stays then he will be allowed to eat when you release him.
This may sound cruel but dogs do much better when someone makes the decisions for them and is in control.
This will help in all areas of your training and will lead to a better relationship with your dog.
Make sure you are consistent with your training and dedicate around 10-15 minutes per day to train.
Any more than this and you will probably lose your dog's attention.
It is not a good thing to overtrain either so make sure you are patient with your pup!
