- Before any routine, have a good warm-up. Stretching helps a great deal. After an exercise routine, take time to cool down. Opt for walking, cycling, swimming and gentler forms of aerobics. Twenty-minute sessions are ideal in the beginning.
- The same exercises can get monotonous. This is more so when you have restrictions on the kinds of exercises you can carry out. Working out can be made more interesting by taking on exercises such as spinning or Pilates, both simple forms of exercise. Get some friends together for walks at a set time each day.
- Exercising can bring on a whole set of aches and pains. A common complaint is painful abrasions from thighs rubbing together. To avoid this, wear spandex shorts. If you are self-conscious, wear cotton shorts that are not too tight and allow for flexibility, or, wear spandex shorts partially concealed under a long baggy shirt. Aching joints are also common because of the extreme weight moved around, so work out for limited amounts of time. To avoid profuse sweating, exercise in air-conditioning, right under a fan or outside during a cool part of the day.
- Comfortable exercise clothes are often an issue. Ideally, layering clothing helps you to bring out a unique look and prevents you from appearing obese. Women need to invest in a good sports bra. Always wear socks with gym shoes to prevent infection as well as to improve the look. If you like spandex for the support and comfort it provides but you are embarrassed because of the way it makes you look, then wear a thin, loose, cotton outfit on top of it.
- Getting the right gym clothes is necessary to feel comfortable in front of others. When it comes to changing, opt for a restroom as opposed to a locker room. Bring a bigger towel or a bathrobe from home to protect your privacy.
