- Reduce "bad" fat by reducing or eliminating processed food. Eat five servings of fruit and vegetables per day. Drink water, including before a major meal. Eat more chicken, turkey and fish to add protein to your diet. Limit the amount of salad dressings, creams on meat and butter sauces on vegetables. Eat more fiber--it helps increase your metabolism. Reduce consumption of sodas and fruit juice--they add "hidden" calories. Drink green tea; it assists in fat burning. Reduce caffeine consumption, because it can slow your metabolism. Eat five to six smaller meals a day. Eat a healthy snack in the late afternoon.
- Exercise or do moderate activity once a day for a half-hour. Make sure to stretch your muscles before and after exercise. Exercise with a friend; it'll make the time go by quicker. Give your new exercise routine and amended diet more than a one-week trial. Look for results in three to four weeks.
- Don't eat after 8 p.m. When shopping, don't buy foods you are trying to avoid. If you weigh yourself often, do it at the same time of day, wearing approximately the same clothes. Don't be afraid to treat yourself every once in a while to that slice of cake or cookie. Buy new clothes when you begin to see results--it'll make you feel like it's all worth it.
