Finding Activities For Toddlers - It"s A Lot Easier Than What You Think!

Mothers of toddlers unite... at nap time! Why? Because nap time is the only time mothers of toddlers have to themselves! It's true these years are considered very trying. But, oh, how rewarding they can be. The key during this stage is finding activities for toddlers that will both entertain them and help their precious development. When mothers swap tips to kill time and entertain, the best ideas are the ones that also advance the child mentally, physically, or both. The traditional toddler range is considered to be between eighteen months and three years old. This is quite an expansive range in terms of development and abilities, so not all activities for toddlers are appropriate for all toddlers. Nevertheless, creative games and activities for toddlers do exist. In fact, the list is virtually endless!

Drawing and or painting is a toddler favorite, whether the child is an advanced artist or barely able to hold an over-sized crayon. For both beginners and experts, chalk is a wonderful medium, and there are several variations to keep it interesting. If staying on a piece of paper is a bit too big of a challenge, then the sidewalk's the limit! If a concrete patio exists in the backyard, then this is PERFECT! Not only is the child in the backyard, away from busy streets, he or she is also working with a giant canvas, really stretching the imagination.

Once in the backyard - or anywhere outside for that matter - the list of activities for toddlers really starts to grow. It is so crucial to get a child in the habit of being outside at a young age. Children who do not fall in love with the outdoors early will fall in love with computers and video games. Sadly, this is an epidemic among the young, making it imperative to get those toddlers OUTSIDE! A long-term project like growing a plant is a great challenge for an older toddler, who may better understand the concept of planting and growing. For the younger, get down-right dirty! Playing in the mud is a rite of passage, and mommies should encourage the exploration. Once the bare patch of dirt has been discovered (best in the shade), add water and go crazy. "Accessories" like sticks, spoons, trowels, and cups make the experience even more interesting.

Motherhood is stressful and wonderful all at once. Finding activities for toddlers can mean the difference between sane and... not-so-sane. Ideas are everywhere.
