Fathers Day has just passed - did you buy your dad or your husband something great? Or were you stuck because hes so hard to shop for, so you didnt really get him anything great? Here are a few ideas for next time around that are sure to bring a big smile to his face.
Beer brewing kit: Most guys enjoy a beer every now and then. There are small kits available for low prices online that allow them to brew their own beer at home without having to set up a major chemistry lab in the kitchen. They are pretty easy to use, come with all the necessary equipment and end up delivering something they can brag about to their buddies. Beer brewing kits are something that the kids can help with and arent so complicated that they take a major amount of time or a science degree to complete. If your giftee doesnt drink alcohol, these kits can also be used to brew root beer or cream soda as well.
Air compressor: What man doesnt want an air compressor? There are many, many tool attachments that can be used with them, something for just about every honey-do project around the house. They can be used to blow leaves, blow off a shop floor, fill a duck with air to make Peking Duck, air up car and bicycle tires, and many other tasks. This is a tool that stands the test of time, so using it just every once in awhile it doesnt run the risk of getting old and ruined from disuse. This is one of those tools thats always handy to have around, that people say Wait! We can make this super easy and use the air compressor!
Car wash gift certificate: Whether your dad or your kids dad is picky about how clean his car is, or doesnt care whether his car is shiny or not, this gift idea can be just right. Most car washes sell wash booklets good for several trips to get squeaky clean, which might be just right for your guy. Or indulge in a wash supreme that has his car also vacuumed out, waxed or treated special in some other luxurious way hell appreciate. This can turn into an outing he can go do with the kids (remember watching the car go through the wash through those funny windows in the car wash wall when you were a kid?), or could just be something a little special for him to treat himself to on his way home from work one afternoon.
A month off from doing a dreadful chore: Whether he hates picking up dog poop in the backyard, or doesnt like climbing up on the roof to get the swamp cooler conditioned and ready for summertime, there is a person out there looking for work who is willing to come do that service for you for a reasonable price. Consider hiring someone for just the month of July (the month after Fathers Day happens) to come do that one awful chore for him and let him have a break. You may just find a good dog sitter in that dog-poop-picker-upper or a great handyman after the cooler is serviced just right, which can come in handy in the future. This is the time of year when it gets hot outside, and letting your guy have that first month off may make it more bearable to resume normal chore duties for the rest of the hot summer.
Cigars, specialty beers and other interesting accessories for his hobbies: Whether hes a golfer, a poker player or likes to watch the big games at home with his buddies and chips and salsa, a special cigar or unique imported beer that he cant run out and get at the convenience store on the corner can make this event more fun. There is probably an alcohol import store or a cigar store near you that has staff who can make recommendations for you for a reasonable price. If youre not located where something can be purchased locally, there are all kinds of good storefronts online where you can purchase great unique cigars or that special pale ale microbrew from Ireland that is hard to find.
Plan ahead for the next Fathers Day holiday (even though the next one is months away, it will be here again before you know it) and you can be sure to give your dad or your kids dad a big grin when he opens his gift on that next special day for dad.
